HVB Mentoring for women start-up entrepreneurs: join today!

Apply here!

On the initiative of the HVB Women's Council, HypoVereinsbank has launched a mentoring programme: experienced businesswomen support selected women start-up entrepreneurs on the road to founding their own company. Eligible candidates, headquartered in Germany, are invited to apply for one of six mentoring places by submitting their idea and business plan or concept. The winners will be selected by a distinguished jury. The deciding factors will be the quality of the business plan or concept and the start-up idea itself.

The closing date for applications is 31 March 2012.

What's in it for you?

Over the course of the mentoring programme, we will be at your side with practical tips, background information and many years of expertise to guide you in the successful launch of your enterprise. For a period of six months, you will receive support from a member of the Women's Council and a HypoVereinsbank start-up expert. Under the programme, as a start-up entrepreneur, you will benefit from the long-term practical experience of hand-picked members of the HVB Women's Council together with HypoVereinsbank's expertise. You will extend your own network and get to know other interesting women entrepreneurs and their ideas.

How it works

The mentoring will begin for the winners in April 2012 at the joint inaugural event with talks and practical workshops. This will be followed by meetings in person with the mentors and HVB start-up experts over the next six months. In the process, members of the HVB Women's Council will assume sponsorship of a start-up mentoring. In addition, as one of the six mentoring winners, for the duration of the programme you will take part in top level events organised by our cooperation partners, including the prestigious DLDwomen Conference in June 2012 in Munich.

The mentors

  • Stephanie Czerny, Managing director DLD Media GmbH, Hubert Burda Media and co-Founder and Director of the DLD Conference

HVB Women's Council in the regions

The idea

The initiative "HVB Women's Council in the regions“ was launched as a forum for dialogue between the Bank, its customers and multipliers from industry, politics and society. The event takes place periodically in various locations throughout Germany. Next time, it is expected to be in Stuttgart in spring 2012.

The Initiative's opening event kicked off with an "Inspirational Dinner“ on 2 May 2011 in Frankfurt. Guests from politics, industry and society met to discuss current developments and opportunities in our society. The philosopher, Professor Dr Peter Sloterdijk and the State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance of the State of Hesse, Professor Dr Luise Hölscher gave talks on the face of society in the 21st century and the future organisation of the welfare state. The event took place under the patronage of Kristina Countess Pilati, member of the HVB Women's Council and Dr Theodor Weimer, Board Spokesman of HypoVereinsbank and Country Chairman Germany UniCredit.

Employee award "2020 – 10 minutes for the bank of tomorrow"

The idea

In September 2010, HypoVereinsbank launched the internal idea competition "2020 - 10 minutes for the bank of tomorrow" - also an initiative by the HVB Women's Council. With this prize, HypoVereinsbank invited all employees to contribute towards the creation of the bank of tomorrow with their comprehensive know-how. As such, the award was an important step in strengthening the innovative culture within the Bank.

The award was rooted in UniCredit's new Mission and the Bank's commitment to generate value for customers, strive for excellence and create a company that is a great place to work. The objective of the competition was to enhance the utilisation and networking of the talents and potential of our employees.

Finanzarena 2010 – the knowledge forum for career starters, students and young professionals

The idea

The answers to questions on modern economy nowadays are hardly ever clear-cut. The challenges faced by the individual are complex; knowledge and understanding of economic correlations have become essential.

In co-operation with Sueddeutsche Zeitung, HypoVereinsbank hence organised the Finanzarena 2010 – the knowledge forum for career starters, students and young professionals. The HVB Women's Council was the initiator of the event. Young adults aged between 18 and 25 came together for the first time at the HVB Forum in Munich on 23 November 2010. There, they were able to acquire practical economic and financial know-how from HypoVereinsbank employees, members of the HVB Women's Council and economic editors from Sueddeutsche Zeitung.

MENTORING-PROGRAMM

The idea

The decision to initiate a mentoring programme arose among the members of the Council: members of the HVB Women's Council provide mentoring support to selected women from middle management and female junior managers at HVB on their career path. The initiative thus supports UniCredit's endeavours to encourage talented women and promote them to management positions (http://www.unicreditgroup.eu/en/Careers/Our_people.htm). Thereby, the HVB Women's Council is setting its own first proof point in its self-perception: the committee's prime function is not as a discussion forum but to take action. The Mentoring-Programm has started in its second round in September 2011.

How the mentees benefit

In a personal dialogue with their mentors, the mentees are given the opportunity to recognise their own strengths and develop the individual personalities that will prove indispensable as managers. For female HVB employees, the incentive consists above all in networking and exchanging information at a high level. Thereby, mentees can extend their horizons beyond company boundaries. Furthermore, the mentees learn from role models: they can put the experience of their mentors to good use in pursuing their own careers.
